SUMMARY:Cuboree 2017
DESCRIPTION:Applications for the 9th Victorian Cuboree have opened! Applications will close on June 30th\, 2017. This is the jamboree for cubs. \nIt’ll be the experience of a lifetime for 3\,500 Cub Scouts. \nThere’ll be 8 awesome activities spread across 5 days: \n\nThe 9th Victorian Cuboree will be held at Gilwell Park in Gembrook in October 2017.\nWhen? 2nd – 6th October 2017\nWho can come? Current\, Registered Cub Scouts born after 2nd October 2006\nWhen can we apply? Applications are open\nApplications will close on June 30th\, 2017.\nCost for Cubs: $400\n\n  \nTo be eligible to attend this great event\, you\nmust:\n1. Be a registered Cub Scout\n2. Born on or after 2nd October 2006\n3. Hold the Cub Scout “Camp Out Badge”. \nFAQ: http://www.vicscouts.com.au/cuboree/frequently-asked-questions/2535 \nTo register go here: https://www.vicscouts.asn.au/cuboree2017/registration.php \nActivities\nMonday\nMost of Monday is taken up by travelling to a Cuboree\, setting up and checking out the camp. With this in mind\, the activities are designed so Packs can drop in as they please.  On Monday night\, the Cubs will be dazzled by a fun filled Opening Ceremony. \nTuesday\, Wednesday and Thursday\nThese are the three action packed\, ‘Main Activity’ days . After breakfast\, the Cubs go to a morning ‘Rev Up’ to get them ready for their Day.  The first activity starts at 9:45\, and concludes at 11:45\, in time for lunch back at Camp.  The next activity starts at 1:45 and finishes at 3:45\, leaving plenty of time for Showers before Dinner\, and the evening entertainment starts at 7:30\, and runs for around one hour. \nFor Cuboree 2017\, There will be ONE ‘wet and muddy’ activity. \nFriday\nFriday is a similar day to Monday\, as most of the day is spent packing up and heading home. \nCatering\nCubs are fed in their pack lines\, by Cooks (most of whom are parents). The Food is delivered each afternoon\, to the Sub Camp HQ\, where the cooks collect it and prepare the meals.  Cubs are not to be involved with the cooking at all.  The kitchens and dining areas are set up just like they would be on a normal camp under canvas. \nTransport\nCubs travel to Cuboree from across Victoria in coaches.  Each coach will pick Cubs up as close to their home pack as possible on the Monday\, and they are returned to the same place on the Friday.  Travelling to Cuboree is part of the experience\, and we only allow independent travellers under special circumstances. \nParent Helpers\nParent helpers are more than welcome\, provided they have approval from their Group Leader. Parent helpers must be registered with State HQ and hold a Working With Children Check. (No Police Clearance Required).  Once they have their registration number\, they can apply online. Parents are not permitted to ‘drop in’ and visit during the day\, as this only encourages home sickness.  Every person attending the Cuboree\, must be registered and have applied to come.  Also\, those over 18 must have a Working With Children Check. \n  \nHow do you get your Camp Out Badge?\n\nDuring a holiday period\, pack a bag for four days/nights duration. You are to use\nonly that gear over the four days and will also wash and dry your own crockery and\ncutlery during that period. You are to be aware of the need for good hygiene\,\nstoring and packing clothes away correctly and wearing appropriate clothing for\nactivities.\nCamp out at home either in the backyard or on the floor in a sleeping bag and learn\nto use your torch to get to the bathroom etc. in the dark.\nAttend two sleep-overs.\nAttend a Pack Holiday under canvas of two nights duration where you are involved\nin cooking a meal.\nDemonstrate that you can erect dismantle and pack up a tent as a team with other\nCub Scouts.\nConvey to your Cub Scout Leader that you are aware of the need for everyone to\ncarry out good hygiene ethics\, eat healthy food\, drinks lots of water and report any\nillnesses or injuries\, whilst on pack holidays/camps.

SUMMARY:Norwegian National Jamboree 2017 with Midnight Sun!
DESCRIPTION:Registrations for the Australian Contingent going to Nord 2017 in Bodø in June/July next year are now open! One of our Scout Leaders\, Matt\, will be attending\, and the camp promises to be something completely different to an Australian Jamboree. \nRead more about Nord 2017 on this page (you can also download newsletters): http://international.scouts.com.au/travel-with-scouting/nord-2017—norway-jamboree \nThere are 3 options to join the contingent; either travel individually\, with the contingent from Australia and return straight after the Jamboree\, or to also join the post-tour after the Jamboree. The information sheet you have access to on the registration page together with the information inside the application form will provide more details. Note that additional funding assistance is also available through Victorian Branch. \nThere are limited places available for the post-tour so if you would like to be part of the contingent and the post-tour\, it is important to register and pay the deposit as soon as possible (an application is only seen as complete when the application is submitted and the deposit paid). There are already registered applicants from 6 states/territories! \nThe registration pages can be found on https://registrations.international.scouts.com.au/\, see the attached document for instructions on how to complete your application. \nIf you have any questions regarding the registration form\, the application process or the trip to Norway\, reach out to Matt (matthewm@10thcaulfieldscouts.org.au) for more info!

SUMMARY:Sign Up for the King David School Festival
DESCRIPTION:Every year we promote Jewish Scouting in Melbourne. Usually we do this by volunteering at an event and have our members come in uniform and promote Scouting and hopefully join up to 10th Caulfield. \nThis year we have signed up to help at the King David School Festival. The date of the fete is Sunday\, November 20th from 10am to 4pm. \nCubs\, Scouts and Venturers must sign up for at least one 2-hour shift at the Chocolate Game. 10am-12pm\, 12pm-2pm or 2pm-4pm. One adult must stay and attend to help with the running of the game. All members to be in full uniform. \nThe Chocolate Game works like this: people throw a gold coin and try and land it on one of the delicious family blocks of chocolate. If you land it on the chocolate\, you keep the chocolate! Pretty simple!! \nWe have helped on this stand in the past and it’s a pretty popular one. Everyone had fun helping during the day so join us and help spread the word about 10th Caulfield. \nTo sign up to the roster email groupleader@10thcaulfieldscouts.org.au

SUMMARY:Jungle Book Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:Cub Scouts have been inspired by Rudyard Kipling’s book “The Jungle Book”. \nCubs belong to a PACK and the adult leaders will usually have names based on Jungle Book Characters. The Leader of the pack is called AKELA (Leader of the Wolf Pack). Various parts of the Jungle Book are taught throughout Cub meetings. Each Six has a colour based on one of the brother wolves in The Jungle Book: Grey Six named after Grey Brother\, White Six named after White Claw and Red Six is named after Red Fang. \nThe Jungle Book is an integral part of Cub Scouts and so it is most fitting that when Disney creates a live-animation ‘The Jungle Book’ movie in 2016\, we celebrate this with a fundraiser viewing! \n$5 from every ticket sold will go directly to our group! \nTo book tickets\, go to www.trybooking.com/172988 \nRemember to put 10th Caulfield as your Cub Pack (and tell your family\, friends\, neighbours and everyone else to do the same) so that we get the $5 from the ticket sale. \nVenue: Classic Cinema\, Elsternwick – 9 Gordon St\, Elsternwick VIC 3185\nDate: Sunday\, 10 April 2016\nTime: 2:00pm\nTickets: $15.00 adults & children \nDoor prizes to be won (Sponsored by Outdoor Store Clayton)
