The following is some important information for the Fantastic Race from the organisers. This notice has been modified to suit 10th Caulfield and as such may not contain the same information
as the same notice used for other Troops participating.
MEET: 8:45am at 1st Malvern Scout Hall. Cooing Place (off Belgrave Road), East Malvern.
BRING (to keep with you): A Myki card (with at least $10 credit) – make sure you bring it with you.
Lunch for Saturday (or enough money to purchase along the way) &
munchies and a drink to have during the day (a small day pack would
be ideal). Patrol Leaders must carry a personal first aid kit & PIR’s.
BRING (in a small bag): Sleeping bag & sleeping mat (stretchers are NOT allowed).
Change of clothes including a long, thick pair of socks, toothbrush & toothpaste. ALL your overnight gear is to be put in one bag (not strapped to the outside) clearly showing your name. You’ll be leaving your bag at the Malvern Hall on Saturday morning. It will be transported to the overnight sleeping place.
WEAR: Casual warm clothes, (uniform is not required) you MUST WEAR
YOUR SCARF. A rain jacket to keep you warm and dry as you will be outside quite a bit and will be on and off public transport all day. Dress to stay warm & dry and wear comfortable shoes.
PICKUP: From 1st Malvern Scout Hall – Cooing Place (off Belgrave Road), Malvern East on Sunday at approx. 3:30pm.
The Fantastic Race (loosely modelled on TV’s Amazing Race) has Patrols travelling on public transport on Saturday and following a series of clues obtained by travelling through checkpoints
manned by Leaders and adult helpers. Most checkpoints will also involve the Patrols participating in some sort of activity/challenge where points will be awarded for participation & achievement.
Now – the really important information about what you will be doing in this year’s Fantastic Race. Race regulations prevent some information being published so “XXXXXXX” will be used to
block out any sensitive information.
You will be travelling in Patrols starting at 1st Malvern Scout Hall. From there you will be given your first clue and travel to XXXXXXX. From there your first stop off point will be XXXXXXX
where XXXXXXX Leader will give you the next clue or challenge. From there you will go to XXXXXXX seeing XXXXXXX and doing XXXXXXX and if you are really lucky you can go on the
XXXXXXX. Challenge zones where you can do XXXXXXX to XXXXXXX and possibly even see XXXXXXX are spaced over the course. Saturday night will be a DVD night at XXXXXXX.
Now you now know what is going on Saturday, Sunday will be as much fun. We’re off to XXXXXXX and will get there via the XXXXXXX. We will also be going on the XXXXXXX

This year’s Glen Eira Stonnington “The Fantastic Race” will have around 300 Scouts! Previous Fantastic Races have been heaps of fun – this year’s race is expected to be even better!
NOTE TO PARENTS: Patrols will be travelling over parts of Melbourne throughout the day. Leaders will not be travelling with Patrols – however Leaders & adult helpers will be spaced along
the route to give out clues, handle challenge zones and monitor the progress of each Patrol. Parent helpers will also be assisting along the route.
