ANZAC Day Dawn Service 2016
Last night 10 Scouts stayed overnight at the hall so they could wake at 4 am and catch a tram to the Shrine of Remembrance. The ANZAC day dawn service at The Shrine started at 5:45 am. We stood and listened to the stories of Australian soldiers involved in wars from World War I until more recent conflicts in Afghanistan and the Middle East. The moving ceremony lasted about one hour as dawn broke to a beautiful clear autumn morning.
We filed through the Shrine and lay a poppy each before heading back to a tram and back to the hall.
Thank you to leaders Ben, Ari, Matt, Jeremy and Gavin for accompanying the Scouts so they could experience the service. Special thanks to Ben for setting up the evenings entertainment for our Scouts.
